Jackets Get Jurcina, Clark From Caps For Chimera

The Blue Jackets have acquired defenseman Milan Jurcina and forward Chris Clark from the Capitals in exchange for forward Jason Chimera, club GM Scott Howson announced on Monday. The transaction is pending the completion of player physicals. ?We are pleased to add Chris Clark and Milan Jurcina to our hockey club. Both are veteran players who we believe will contribute significantly to our team,? said Howson. ?We?d also like to thank Jason Chimera for his contributions to the Blue Jackets organization both on and off the ice over the past four-plus seasons.?

Jackets Trade Pelletier To Blues For Bell, Kana

The Blue Jackets have acquired defenseman Brendan Bell and forward Tomas Kana from the Blues in exchange for forward Pascal Pelletier, GM Scott Howson announced today. Bell and Kana have been assigned to the Syracuse Crunch, the club?s AHL affiliate. Bell has collected seven goals and 21 assists for 28 points and 51 penalty minutes in 101 career NHL games with Toronto, Phoenix and Ottawa. Toronto?s third pick, 65th overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft, Bell has also registered 36-126-162 and 346 penalty minutes in 325 career AHL games during his seven-year career. Kana was the Blues? third pick, 31st overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft. He has split the past two seasons between the AHL with Peoria and ECHL with the Alaska Aces. A native of Opava, Czech Republic, Kana played parts of four seasons with HC Vitkovice Steel and Usti n. L. in the Czech League from 2004-08, registering 19-21-40 and 128 penalty minutes in 112 games.

Leafs Acquire Philippe Paradis For Tlusty In Deal With Carolina

Brian Burke, president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the team has acquired forward Philippe Paradis from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for forward Jiri Tlusty. Paradis, 18, was selected by Carolina in the first round, 27th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft in Montreal. The 6-1, 206-pound native of Normandin, Quebec has registered 19 points (8 goals, 11 assists) and 43 penalty minutes in 26 games with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL this season. Paradis has played 137 games with Shawinigan over three seasons (2007-2009), posting 38 goals and 54 assists for 92 points with 161 penalty minutes.

Ducks Obtain Chipchura From Montreal For 2011 Draft Pick

The Ducks announced today that the club has acquired center Kyle Chipchura from the Canadiens in exchange for a fourth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. ?Kyle Chipchura is a heart-and-soul player,? said Executive Vice President/GM Bob Murray. ?A team leader in both his professional and amateur career, Chipchura will be a valuable addition to the Anaheim Ducks.? Chipchura has appeared in 19 games for Montreal this season, going scoreless with 16 penalty minutes. The center recorded 11 shots on net while averaging 8:37 time-on-ice with the Canadiens. He won 51-of-106 faceoffs, ranking second on the club in faceoff percentage (53.8%). Originally selected by Montreal in the first round (18th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Chipchura earned 0-3=3 points with five PIM in 13 games with the Canadiens last season. He spent the remainder of the year with Montreal?s AHL affiliate in Hamilton, scoring 14-21=35 points with 65 PIM in 51 games. As Hamilton?s team captain, Chipchura led the Bulldogs with a +28 rating in the regular season. A native of Westlock, Alberta, Chipchura has played three NHL seasons with Montreal, collecting 4-10=14 points with 31 PIM in 68 career games. Over four AHL seasons with Hamilton from 2006-09, Chipchura recorded 37-61=98 points with 154 PIM in 178 games and helped the Bulldogs win the 2007 Calder Cup. Prior to making his professional debut with Hamilton, he won a gold medal as Team Canada?s captain at the 2006 World Junior Championship in Vancouver, British Columbia
